Why Engage?

Why the Change

As we've grown into a multisite church across Vancouver and Surrey, we wanted a name to call our own, one that reflects the specific part we get to play within Every Nation's global vision. Every Nation is a great name for what Every Nation is building worldwide, and we remain proud to be part of that family. This change does not affect that relationship in any way. It simply lets us name what God is uniquely calling us to here, in our city, as we do our part in that larger movement.

Our mission remains unchanged: Multiplying followers of Jesus who love God, one another, and the world.

Why "Engage"

We wanted one word that could capture every direction we hope to grow in: up with God, in with one another, and out with the world. Engage does that. Beyond mission, it is also a relational word: Love takes engagement, heart, soul, mind, and strength.

What the Icon Means

The mark is made of 12 rectangles arranged in an open circle, each one a different shape and size. The 12 echoes the Twelve disciples; the varied shapes represent the diversity of our church family; and the openness of the circle reflects a community that is unified, but not closed.

There is a second layer as well. The shape is also a crown. Scripture describes God's people as his crown (Isaiah 62:3), and this icon carries both meanings at once. It is not community and crown as two separate ideas; rather, Jesus' loving leadership over us is what makes our community possible in the first place. Moreover, Jesus himself says our unity is how the world will know he was sent by the Father (John 17:22–23).
